Defaultlegal question about tapco stock 1022 ruger

ok guys i have this setup on my ruger 10 22
RGR-017 - TAPCO 10/22 T6 Collapsible Stock Flat Dark Earth

there are 2 hex head screws to remove the butt altogether and then rifle has only a pistol grip.is this illegal.i know the laws are a lot more lenient on rimfire weapons..

thanks a lot..

You can remove it if you want to. Gun laws are gun laws though. There's no such thing as leniancy if the firearm meets the definition by BATFE standards regardless of caliber. Just FYI...

If your length is still over 16" barrel and 26" total length you should be good. If you are under that then it is a Short Barreled Rifle (SBR) and you need to registrar it as such. If you do not then if caught you could get a few years in the pokey.

Remember bubba needs lovin too.

With the stock removed, the total length is 26 7/8 inches long.

That is cutting it to close for me.

If you want a stockless ruger 10/22 why not just get the Charger?

there are some instances that certain restrictions do not apply for rimfire rifles such as hi capacity magazine ban...

Looks fine. I prefer to keep the stock on. I put a Vortex strikefire on it, just like my M4rgery and can train with cheap 22lr ammo. So, I have two rifles that are similar and shoot 200 rds from the ruger and 20 to 30 rds from the M4 clone and still get a lot of trigger time for not too much money. It works for me
