Jim, I discovered these rifles purely by accident. I was at a small local gunshop and spied a Biathlon and had no idea what it was. I thought the action was so unique I bought it on the spot. Over time it has proven to be probably the most accurate 22 I ever owned. Everyone who has shot mine loved it. Looks like you must really like them too. These remain undiscovered by most shooters which is to bad. Here's what mine does at 100 yards shooting Federal 710s.
I started out with the third one from the left, an older, used one with the slightly different stock. Couldn't find any more for a few years but last year I hit the jackpot and found the rest. The first two on the left are Sobols. Same action as the others that the Sobol company puts a fancy stock on and adds a little chrome. Every one of them is a real shooter and the trigger is great right out of the box.
I'm really surprised that the importer of these doesn't advertise them. Every so often you'll see one on an auction site but that's about it. These are truly remarkable rifles with free floating hammer forged barrels and wonderful triggers. A friend found a Biatlon Basic in 22 Magnum and uses it for coyote hunting.
The only thing I miss in Chicago are the great restaurants. I use to live on LSD across from Belmont Harbor. Moved to western Illinois upon retiring and believe me the difference is like night and day. I am going back for a decent pizza tomorrow.
