Info on Marlin .22 Mag rifle

My wife and I are looking to buy a .22 MAG rifle for her dad for christmas. He said he'd like to have one again, since he had one about 15 years ago. We want a bolt action, I saw a Marlin bolt-action at Wal-Mart today that was within our price range. It was $197.00, does anyone have any info on this rifle or another similar .22 Mag rifle.

I'd like to get him the Marlin cause he has a Marlin in .22 LR that's a semi-auto and he loves it.

I am partial to Marlins. Do not know which model you are looking at. There are few 22 Mag autos, since higher energy cartridge requires different things to make cycle. The Marlin bolt rifles are good, reasonably accurate, and reasonably priced. You CAN shop around on auctionarms.com. and gunbroker.com, but you will need to factor in shipping costs, and cost of having a local FFL receive the rifle, and transfer it to you. Pick out a nice scope if it does not come with one.

Hi, I've got a Marlin .22 mag. It shoots well, but the trigger is a dog. Heavy to pull and an awful lot of travel. Anyone know if there's an aftermarket trigger can be installed?

i have a marlin 925M 22mag
IMO i think its a great 22mag
with a good scope you can't go wrong
i picked it up new at a gun show for $215
the only draw back is that the ammo is a bit more expensive then the 22lr

You might want to at least take a look at the Savage 93 series. No personal experience
with the magnum, but my 22 LR is a sweet gun, and the accu-trigger has to be tried to be believed.

i have a 22. mag Marlin 883SS bolt action and i have a 3-9x40mm bushnell scope when i was 14 and sense then ive been able to shoot a 3'' spread up to 150 yards. ive shot almost all small game in Iowa and i love it. i dont know all the scientific facts of how much it dops or the fps and stuff but i having shot hundreds of round and i belive that it can be accurate at 200 yards and still have enough power to take down small game.http://media.photobucket.com/image/m...arlin883ss.jpg ( same rifle but not mine)

The new Marlin XT-22's have Marlin's Adjustable Pro-Fire trigger from their X-7 series centerfire on 'em ;)
Its Niiiiiiice :D

Or if you are a cheapskate like me, find a good used Marlin .22 WMR (25M/25MN/880/980), & order in an XT22MVSR trigger from Marlin...
then have yer favorite gunsmith install it ;)
