I think I am going to build a 10/22
I am finding all sorts of cool things.
Anyways, this is just going to be a personal thread for me to organize my thoughts with, and I will have a few questions and seek advice before I buy anything. I plan on selling my Hi point 995 to fund this.... I didnt realize how fast I would breeze though that 9mm. I think .22 is my caliber :D The kel-tec and gsg-5 in my other thread are awesome guns, but no where to be found. Ill get them someday. For now ill use resources that are available.
First off, I am looking at buying this
This is the first stock I am looking into. Really spendy, and I dont understand what the different options are
I dont fully understand the options with that. I would want my gun to look exactly like the black one in that picture. What options would I need to choose to get it to look like that?
Also, is this stock overly expensive? Will the factory magazines work with this? I want to get a 25 round mag that would work with the factory stock, and someday even a 50 round drum. And will the stock barrel, or do I need to get a different barrel as well? I have read that some stocks will only work with I think its a bull barrel or something.
Here is just another link I would like to keep for future reference.
Well, good luck with your build. Post pics as you go.
Thanks lol and help with this stock?
I've got quite a bit of time behind a 10/22 and, other than the short LOP, I'm pretty happy with the stock that Ruger puts on them.
To make yours look like the picture though, you'll want to add the UTG ergo grip and the 12 1/2 inch free float tube. I can't figure out who makes that butt stock, but it look a lot like an ACE skeleton stock, which I don't see listed as an option.
I've always liked the prices here http://www.sportsmansguide.com/net/cb/cb.aspx?a=359272. And please! take plenty of pictures.
Well, first off, I have to say I am not sure that Nordic kit is a "drop in" for an average 10/22 action.
It would appear you have to strip the 10/22, the take the factory action and bed it in their lower assembly to be able to accept the stock and fore ends like you would do with an AR Platform.
As for the stock, what is your specific question? The pistol grip has two choices, ERGO ( which is a brand name you can look up ) and black plastic.
The butt stock is either a 4 position or 6 position collapsible, like on tactical M4/AR's
The foreend is being offered as free floated, which is better for accuracy. YHM is Yankee Hill Machine and they make very good products, so if you went that route, and accuracy is your ultimate goal, that would be the direction I would suggest.
Having said that, this a .22lr - it's not like you are building a 500 yard varmint shooter. A bone stock Ruger, with a trigger job and some glass bedding will probably shoot just as well as one of those expensive kit jobs. Were talking 100 yards or so here....
Wow that does look like a really good price. Which do you think is a better made stock, or is just purely personal choice? This one or the one I suggested below.
-dillinger, thianks and i understand what you say. Some things just needed clairification. However when my friend pointed out that I still have to buy almost another $100 in parts pistol grip, barrel shroud and butt plate) then I said forget it when the total was about $300.
So, he built his 10/22 and he still has his stock stainless tapered barrel. I can use it if I can find a breech mechanism and then all I need is the stock. And I wont need to waste money on an entire gun when I will only rip it in half anyways.
So, because I can make this cheaper then I thought I am going to keep my Hi point and get a Ruger as well.
So, ATI makes stocks for both the guns. On ebay, I will buy them both and do combined shipping to say like $8 (anything is worth it to me.)

This stock for the ruger will work with hi cap magazines right? meaning the 25 round banana clips and the 50 round drum?
So that way, I have the stock I want on the hi point, and a pretty cool stock on the 10/22. So the only thing I need with that is the breech system. I would like a heavy fluted barrel but it wont fit with this stock, and at the moment I dont want to spend the money on a barrel thats $150 +
I know this is only a .22lr. IfI could shoot a quarter at like 25 yards id be a happy camper. With out a scope..
So all in all. I just need to find a breech system, preferably brand new. Can anyone help
Although I have never purchased one, Tapco has a great reputation!!
Lol, yeah. They look pretty sweet. I was leaning towards the ATI one because of the price. I wonder if that one is worth the extra 40-50 dollars???
and BTW I cant find breech systems anywhere!!!!!!
All you could ever want on "tactical" 10/22's, and more...
Search "tactical" or "tacticool".
