Default I Just Bought a Deluxe 10/22 stock!

After seeing some of the 10/22 project threads, I knew I wanted a deluxe checkered Ruger stock.

I do a lot of trading on Calguns and this stock just now appeared, so I jumped on it. $75. shipped. I don't know if that's a good price or not, but it didn't seem too bad.

The stock is unused, but it has one small mark. I figure I can touch it up. Now I have to buy another 10/22 to put in it, then another Stalkingbear trigger job. Of course I'll need another scope as well. Damn, this gun addiction is fun.

Here's a link:

I haven't received a reply from the seller yet. I may not even own the stock yet.

However, I think it would be awesome with a stainless barrel and action. I had been planning on buying a Ruger Mark III, but this will be next instead.

It depends on how much cash I can shake loose. I can't really afford another project right now, but...

The seller has been in contact and the stock is mine.

I noticed that the sling swivels are blued, so the rifle will have to be blued. I'm going to go with a 18.5" model and will either mount a Nikon scope or possibly go with fiber optic sights. Since I already have a scoped 10/22, I'm leaning towards the fiber optics.

I'm also toying with the idea of stripping the stock and staining it a darker color, then using a tru-oil finish. I'll have to look at it for a while before I make that decision.

I bought the 10/22 this morning at Big 5 for $229. It has some kind of black painted finish. The clerk said they aren't selling blued anymore.

I checked under the barrel band for scratches since there won't be a barrel band on the Sporter stock. Then when I got home, I ordered a set of HiViz fiber optic sights for it. Amazon.com: HiViz Ruger 40108 Fiber Optic Sight Combo Pack: Sports & Outdoors

I'm going to start out with fiber optics first. If I find I have to scope it, I'll do that a bit later.
