Default how far out can you shoot a .22lr accurately?

just in general, what would be the maximum distance you could shoot accurately when target shooting with a 22 rifle?

for example could you shoot a standard ruger 10/22 out to 200 yds? and get say a 6" group or better? with a scope?

Before I shot this jelly jar at 250 yards, I shot a 6 inch group at 200 yards using the iron sights.

If someone had a good rifle and scope, shooting subsonic ammo; I am sure they would do a lot better.

This guy shoots 500 yards with his 22 all the time.

In my limited experience with a Savage MkII:

The w i d e variety of results I gotten with off the shelf .22lr so far leads me to believe that the ammunition would be the limiting factor, presuming you can hold a rifle on POA. More so than the wind, which you could wait out; the position, which would be bench; and the sight, which could be a high power cranked all the way up. These are variables you can control. So, how far can you shoot a .22lr accurately? It depends on how consistent your ammo is so you can dial-in/hold over reliably. I don’t think you can hand load .22lr.

Can one get a 6” group at 200 yards? I would think at least once and a while. I’ve only gone as far as 100 yards and I’ve got more than a couple of 1.5” groups with Hyperspeed.

I've shot out to around 150 yards with CCI mini mags. Groups were pretty big, maybe 10 inches IIRC? That was out of my mossberg plinkster 802.

I consider my 22LRs to be 100 yard guns.

I'm sure people have shot further than that with them.

I'm sure people have skated across the Great Lakes in the dead

of winter, too.

I'm not going to do THAT, either...

I like shooting empty 12 hulls at 50 yards with it now.

We stack cans, and put the (empty)12G shells at the top.

Fun for the whole family...

I'm popin 12G shells at 100y pretty reliably with my 10-22 with CCI blazers.

Mods to rifle are.
bushnell banner 6-18x 55mm,
polished internals,
Butler creek over molded stock and butler creek carbon/ stainless barrel.

Nuthing spectacular, just a cheap 10-22

No scope???? Most people can't see shot gun shells at a 100 yards.
