Hd controversy
So...I've been thinking...everyone on this forum has their perfect HD weapon.

To my understanding a shotgun is everyones best option...and I tend to agree...but...

For the people who's next choice is a large caliber rifle/handgun...I do not understand.

So what I do not understand is WHY no one picks a 22lr...most are compact light and quick to get into the "ready to fire" position...22s are supposed to be ideal in a zombie situation...why not in a HOME. I'm not talking battlefront is a mass open field with 100s of troops. I'm talking you and your wife in your living room and some ahole tries to get in...idk about you...but I don't wanna get shot PERIOD. idc what the caliber. I'm pretty sure the intruder feels the same...I'm not the best shot but I'm pretty sure I can pick off a couple head shots at 20ft no problem...and most 22s carry high capacity mags...who says you have to shoot em once? Even if I miss the head lol

Ok...GO! :D

While a .22lr can be just as lethal as say, a .45 or .357 or what have you, it doesn't have any real stopping power. I know some people will argue it doesn't matter if you have good shot placement, but i'd rather have good shot placement WITH stopping power.

My wife has a .22 on her side of the bed because she is comfortable shooting it. While it might not knock any one down it beats the heck out of a stout stick. A .22 will kill anybody, but it maybe tomorrow by the time it does unless you have great shot placement.

You put 2,3,4 rounds of .22 in an intruder at non-critical locations you are most likely going to have 2 outcomes. 1) they turn and run 2) they come at you full force.
You are not going to get off more than 4 rounds if they are coming at you full force.

You put 1 round from my 1911 with a HD hollow point round in a non critical location, they are going down.

Nuff said...

I find the 22lr best reserved for plinking and mafia hit men.

+1,000 when it's time to defend myself and my family, i'll stick to my .45

My first line of defense is my always-on-me Glock 20sf 10mm.
Second line is the Calico M-110 pistol w/ Laser on my Wifey's side of the bed...
Third line is my twin Calico Liberty III pistols...which I would pick up after emptying the 10mm, while Wifey covers with the Calico.

Why a Calico M-110?? 100-rds per mag of .22lr Hyper-Velo will put a damper on ANYONE'S night...
and it is low recoil...and it'll give me time to get the 9mm Calico's ready....for whatever is left after she unloads down the hallway ;)

Oh...and anything less than a 100-rd mag of .22lr ain't quite enough...IMHO
If you are going to use an inferior man-stopping caliber, best to use a LOT of it ;)

And yeah, a local cop shot a guy with a .22lr who was approaching him with a knife...
the bad guy sat down right there on the ground and cried...stomach wound...
but that ain't the kinda instant stop I'm looking for...
which is lots of holes in the Bad Guy and lots of bleeding, which usually stops all but the worst meth/crack-heads.

I agree a 22 lacks the stopping power of any of the larger calipers. But for say my wife for instance only feels completely comfortable shoots my 22's and has no problem getting it in her hand if things don't seem right. So I have trained her on my 22 revolver a high standard the marshall 9 shot. I told her if she ever needs to pull the trigger keep shooting until she here's a clck with no boom.

I've seen a big biker stump his toe and hop around for 10 minutes. A couple of .22's are sting a lot more than that.
