Default GSG-5 versus AR-15

They are about the same price but which is better (the 22lr commited platform) in reliability, accuracy, fun, etc..???

i own a GSG-5 and ar-15(not .22 though)
i think in terms of fun factor i think GSG-5 wins
its light it looks cool and just fun and i think those ar-15 .22 look kinda weird maybe because i own a real one...
accuracy i think is around the same (but what is "accurate" for a .22 for you? if you're looking for real accuracy go with something else like a 10/22 but expect like groupings no less than 2 inches at 25 yards with GSG-5 which is not bad but not good either haha)
as for reliability i've shot a few hundred rounds through my gsg-5 no cleaning and no problems thus far
cant go wrong with either
in the end its what your little heart desires

10/22 AR look alike Stock

Tactical Looking 10/22 Stock

Get a 10/22 and then make it look like whatever you want!

Yea but the GSG-5 looks really sweet to me, and everyone and thier mother has a 10/22.

Is the GSG-5 really only good for 2" at 25yds????

I really hope that was a typo.

well yeah 2" with the sights and no support
if you put a cheap red dot maybe it'll be better

personally i like mine alot and i would recommend it for anyone looking for a .22 but not a 10/22
just pick up a few extra mags cuz those 22 rds disappear real quick

Yea thats what I need to hear!!! BUT......

I could not find any more accurate barrels on the web, and I was hoping for at least 5" at 100yds.

100yds? honestly i wouldn't really use the GSG-5 past 50yds its more of a fun plinker rather than a serious accurate rifle
if your looking for a fun cheap day at the range then i would recommend that you get it
but if your looking into something with more accuracy and versatility i would go with 10/22
the only thing you can really do with your GSG-5 is get a top rail, red dot, retractable stock, and railed handguard.
you might be able to make 5" at 100 yds but you'll need a scope

ah no problem i know you'll enjoy it

i've read because of the high demand of the GSG-5 they've been rushing them so the quality is not as good resulting in cracked carrier assemblies etc...
i dont know how true this is but just to make sure you get one built earlier in the year like mines january and 300 rds no jams no misfeeds just a little dirty so
