Has anyone out there bought a GSG-5 as an investment? We bought one for about $500 then read about the H&K lawsuit. We've seen them online now for $2,000 but aren't sure if anyone is actually getting that price. We'd be interested in hearing from anyone who has actually made a profit.

By the way, its an amazingly fun little weapon to shoot. A visual twin of the MP-5, complete with phony silencer, there are all sorts of add-ons available to make it look "mean". And its a great way to practice marksmanship with cheap 22 LR ammo.

Ummmm- y'all ARE up to date on the ATF and the issue of the "fake" suppressors that the ATF says are real??? Right?

Yes. The GSG-5 comes in a few configurations. One of them (carbine I think) has a suppressor that is larger than the others and for some reason is considered too realistic looking so they banned it. Its still not functional, just an empty tube. In my book they look the same and can only be told apart by actually measuring them. You just can't make sense out of some things when anti-gun bureacrats start getting involved.

The BASIC carbine is not part of the the recall. The GSG-522 SD is the recalled version. It has a larger diameter tube than the basic carbine.
