when did these come out?? does anybody have a extra front sight hood
laying around???Where they good rifles???thanks

try the marlinforums, they have a great bunch of marlin handlers there and loads of info. good shooting!

it should shoot really well. does it use a tube feed or 7 round magazine? if its a mag feed and ya want I've got a stock made of either plastic or fiberglas, thats available for postage fees only.

Should shoot nicely. Give it a thourough cleaning first and familiarize yourself with it. It will obliterate gophers at 100-150 yards no problems. Marlin makes a dangfine rifle

Made from 1971-1988. Good luck finding a sight hood...folks had a really bad habit of chucking them. The 783 is a tubular mag. I'm not fond of the tubular mags...pain inna rump to clean. I've got a Marlin 25MN in .22 Mag...luv those 7 shot clips
