Default good scope for a savage 93r

Hey every one. Picked up a savage 93r in 17hmr a while back. Its got the heavy barrel the accutrigger. Gun shoots great. The problem is i have a tasco 3-9x50 its a clear scope but at 100 yds there not enough power to see a clean hit. Im looking to stay with a 50mm and somthing over a 12power prob spend around 200. Any good ideas?

I have no affiliation with them, but Mueller's has some very good reviews.
If not, I have a BSA Sweet17(3-12x40A/O) on my Marlin VRX.
Simmons 44MAG(4-16x44SF) on a Ruger 77/22 in 22magnum.
Burris FullfieldII(3-9x40) on Ruger 10/22 in 22LR.
If you want to spend a little more, look at Weaver. I have V16 Classic(4-16x42A/O) that is superb, but I think price has gone way up since I got mine 6yrs ago.
Other scopes to look at would be Vortex, Redfield, Nikon, as they have a few selections you might like.
Only problem with wanting a Scope around $200 with a 50mm Lens, is limiting your selections. A 50mm Lens will let in more light on those darker days, but it doesn't necessarilly mean you get a better Scope. If you also look at some 40mm(+/-) Scopes, you just might find a much better Scope to your liking around that $200 with better Lens.
Surprisingly, some Folks have used, with very good results, the Center Point Scopes you find at Walmart. I tried one when they first came out back around '06 and while I liked the glass and construction, the Turret adjustments just wouldn't keep POI. It was mounted on a 30-06, so I take that as why, but other Hunters have the same Scope on their rifles for years, without problems. But, this is where costs generally come in. Do you want a Scope that will last Years, OR a Scope that will last a Life-Time?
Also don't disreguard going "used". You can get a very good Scope for less. I went this route with a Nikon Buckmaster for $170. Cheap compared to new price, and is now mounted on my 30-06.

I've got a Hawke 6x24-44 on a Savage .223 that I got on a trade. It is in their varminter series and seems to be a good scope right in your price range.

actually it's pretty clear, even at the higher magnifications. not bad for a $140 scope. so far it has held zero quite well, but the 17 HMR doesn't have hardly even any recoil!

all in all, i would recommend this scope for a rimfire rifle. so far i am very pleased with the scope.
