Under $100: the 3-9X32 Simmons .22 Mag Scope with A.O. Blue or Silver $65 +/-.

Over $100: the 4.5-14 X 40 Mueller APV with A.O. Blue or silver $130 +/-

Both have excellent reputations for quality on a 10/22.

Weaver Classic Rimfire, a little over $100 bucks with parallax set at 50 yards. I think anything over 3-9 power is overkill in a .22.

What are you using it for? Is it stock or a build? Plinker or target?

I'm with him.
But with the recoil of the 10/22 you can use some big cheap scopes without much worry. I got a 6x20x50 for mine off of e-bay and had it for several years for just a tick over $100 with no issues at all thus far. It's held solid and killed a lot of squirrels. Not 100% sure I would trust it on the 308, but it's been rock solid on the .22

That would be my question too.

The straight 40 power scopes on my 200 yd beer can killers would be a bit much for my keep it light wt, carry all day tree rat slayers.

For a keep it stock, right out of the box 10/22 I like a good 3x9. If weight is an issue, ya might even go with a straight 4x scope or even a red dot. Good luck! Ken

I have 2 stock 10-22 rifles. One is carrying a red dot and the other is carrying a Konus 2.5x32 shotgun scope. My bolt action is carrying a 3-12x40 AO. I sometimes kill paper with it at 100 yds. I have not found much need for more than 2.5x at 50 yds.

I have a nice nikon scope on one of my .22's, but I personally have found a cheap sightmark red dot to be great. At the ranges a .22 is generally accurate at, a cheap reflex sight is fine, plus most of the hunting I've done with a .22 is more suited to a small red dot.

Just my opinion, but worth a thought.
