Because none of it is in the same class as bulk ammo. All of the bulk ammo is manufactured under the same manufacturing methods and machines, at very high production rates. CCI, Remington "Golden Bullets", Federal "Value Packs", Winchester "555" Packs are all similar. If they weren't they wouldn't sell so cheaply for all around the same price. What makes the prices vary, is the amount stores purchase in one order, not because of any quality improvements over each other. That's why Wal-Mart and Cabela's usually have the best sale prices on it.
All of the high priced .22 Match ammunition is manufactured under much tighter controls to much closer tolerances. It is also measured and checked accordingly with more time spend on quality control. That is what makes it cost so much more. If a standard $200.00 .22 likes one brand of bulk ammo over another, it isn't because that particular ammo is better manufactured. It just happens to agree with it. I have a $1,000.00 S&W Model 41 that won't reliability cycle Eley Tenex, but will Federal 550 Round Value pack. It isn't because the Federal is "better" ammo.
