I picked one up the other day at an auction and gave her the TLC she needed to look and act like new once more. My question is at about 90 feet my hit point is about 1 1/2 inch to the left of the bulls-eye. The sight has up and down adjustment but no side to side and the front is fixed. Am I just stuck with it this way or can the rear sight be knocked to one side or the other to remedy this? Thanks, John.

You should be able to tap the rear sight to the right to bring the group to the right. Use a light mallet, preferably with plastic head/s and use light taps.

I have a Marlin/Glenfield that my wife bought for me in 1976. I still have both the wife and the rifle, and I still dearly love them both. I've placed a scope on the rifle and it is a tack-driver out to about 75+ yards with CCI mini mag ammo. I've never shot it beyond that range. It shoots as well as, if not better, than my $1,000.00+ customized Ruger 10/22.

Thanks, I did try that (but kicked it over to the left, not the right) after I submitted this question and it did move the pattern to the right as it needed. I also have a Savage 64 with a scope that does as well as your Marlin does, great ground hog/raccoon gun (Didn't lose even 1 ear of corn this year). Mine I think I'll leave with open sights due to the plain fun of it. I got it for $45 at an auction, refinished the stock with a slightly darker stain, removed the barrel rust and did a cold re-bluing to it. Looks and functions as new now. Like having 18 rounds much better than the 10 of the Savage (although I do have extra clips for it it still takes longer to load those than the tube). Thanks again, John.

Personally I feel that the Marlin Rear ladder sight is archaic...
and I cannot understand why every new Marlin doesn't get one of their Adjustable Rear Target Sights...
Which you can purchase from Marlin or Numrich for around $10...
Here's one on My Marlin 795...screw adjust for up/down & another screw for side to side...MUCH easier to adjust, and far more precise!!!



I'm slowly changing out every one of mine...one at a time...eventually, there will be none with a ladder anymore...
Tech-sights are another, but far more expensive option if you like the M14/M16-style sights...
