found a Glenfield Marlin model 60 at a pawn shop......
Im new to firearms. ...just aquired my first firearm, a Mossberg 500...but now I want something everyone can shoot....
I been scoping out all the local pawn shops and came across a marlin 60 for $69.....all the it was missing was the front takedown screw.....should I go for it? ....
According to my youtube research, this is a great rifle....but I cant find 22lr ammo anywhere!
I also came across a Mossberg 380 with the mag tube thru the rear of the stock....btw, it was a thumbhole stock....they wanted $140 for it....
What do u think?

Hell yeah! you can get that screw at Numrich's for a few dollars. very nice rifles and very accurate. i paid about $70 for mine at my LGS last year. it's about a 1980 or 1981 vintage. it was in rough shape appearance wise, but functioned perfectly. i cleaned her up, refinished the wood and metal work, bought a set of scope mounts and used a 3-9x40 scope i already had, and still have less than $100 in the rifle. shoots very accurately and is tons of fun to shoot.
yes get it. even if it needs minor repairs it's worth the asking price. and you can still get most any part needed for them through Numrich's.

Thanks....its mine tomorrow. ..the wood is in decent shape. It looks hardly used, as if it sat on a shelf for a decade or two....cant wait to revive it

I got mine at a gun show for $100. It has the 18 round mag and the last shot bolt hold open feature. It came with tasco 4x32 a scope and not a scratch on it even though it was made in the 80s. Sweet shooter! Just mounted swivel studs on her today and got my bipod on there! It looks great. All that's left to do is get a sling!

if it has the LSHO feature, then it was probably made in 1983 or later. mine doesn't have the LSHO feature and is Marlin Glenfield model 60. from the research i have done, they dropped the Glenfield name in about 1982 and in 1980 started putting the LSHO on them. mine also has the 22" barrel and holds 18 rounds in the tube.

Ya I'm glad I found one with the 18 round tube and longer barrel. Some other 22s feel small and dinky but not the older 60s!
