You need to be picking your friends brains too. Find out what they do and how they do it.

I think by ".22" he was referring to something that started with that, kind of like the .223 or the .222.

But as much as I hate to rain on parades, shouldn't this be moved to either the hunting area or general long guns instead of being in the rimfire area?

Oh, we'll if you plan on going hunting for something like a deer, you better off with a center fire rifle. Not only does a rimfire lack the range, but it also lacks stopping power.

You need to take some firearms classes man.

Your starting off on the right foot by coming to a place like this and asking questions, but just how much do you already know about guns?

This might be a better option. Since it is an SB1, you could also get a regular 20ga barrel for birds.

I would definitely take some hunting classes too. Also, sit down and ask anything you are slightly unsure about with your hunting buddies. If they can't answer your questions, this is a good place to come. Although the hunting classes won't teach you everything you need to know, they can give you a good base. I was taught by my fathers and family members, but I always have a family that does a lot of farming and hunting. The best knowledge you'll get is from knowledgable and trusted friends/family, as well as here.
