Finally got to purchase my first long gun today! Pretty excited to get to the range. Remington 597 in OD green with 3-9x32 scope. If I can ever find any ammo I could give you guys a range report :-)

I just got one of those too, I love mine. Even with bulk box ammo, you can cover a 10 shot 50 yard group with a quarter. Good enough for me

Speaking of .22 ammo. I went to Walmart today looking to see if they had any on shelves yet. Clerk said they were told not to order any from warehouse. Don't know what that's about. They only had shotgun shells on the shelf...and lots of those only in light bird loads.

I think they are waiting the ban out to see what happens. That's what I've heard. I live in Nevada, and 22 is like gold right now. I was lucky enough to have some stored away before all this started stirring up

Now ya' see why I went with a high power 22cal air rifle. Quality RWS Super Dome Pellets are $8.99/250 and if you order 3 tins from Pyramyd Air you get a 4th tin for free. Just saying.
Anyway, nice looking rifle, good luck on finding ammo for it.

Yes, you do have the airgun and pellets cheap. I have one too. It's my favorite weapon to use on yard vermin. I have stocked up on .22 ammo. I have about 5000 rds here with me in Texas. Bought some everytime I went to walmart. I also have about that much in Wisconsin where I migrate to in spring. By then the dust will have settled, and it will be available again. If you buy an airgun, get the biggest baddest one you can find. Nothing worse than shooting an animal and not killing it.
