Default Finally found my Marlin 39

I've been keeping watch for awhile for a Marlin 39 and today it paid off! 39d made in '71 for $400 - I'm pretty stoked!

Now can I make time to make it to the range tomorrow?

Nice.
Bought mine many years ago.
Love it.

I took it apart and it was a little gunky. Removed all the grease and buildup. Inside of the barrel was pretty good, though. A new coat of grease on the inside and a coat of Flitz wax on the outside and she's ready to go!

I've had my second one for over forty years, and still regret trading off my first one. The older ones are superb rifles. Unfortunately they are expensive, but your granchildren will probably enjoy it with their kids.

Mine will be going to my son and his boys soon. I can't hunt anymore due to age and health problems, so I can't see making them wait for it till I croak.

40 years old and I'll bet it still shoots like the day it was new.

Good find.
