Default Dumb question, 22 recoil.

I love to shoot 22lr for the cost, but I like a little more feedback in the recoil department, so is there any way to bump up the felt recoil?

I'm not talking like centerfire recoil, just a bit more than what I got.
Thanks guys.

You could alter your grip slightly to create more offset between the barrel and the top of your grip. Unfortunately that doesn't let you practice with the same grip as your main gun. You might try putting a spacer between your hand and the beavertail at the top of the grip (assuming semi-auto). That would make the grip feel a little more normal and still be lower.

A better option would probably be to rent a gun in a larger caliber once in a while. Lots of ranges have rental counters. Some give you credit for some (or all!) of your rental payment towards purchase of a gun at the range. I'm saving that way for my 1911 purchase. So far I've got about $200 off!

(Grunt!) There- moved it for you.

Recoil is speed times weight of projectile vs. weight of firearm. Changing the force that drives a bullet, weight of bullet, or the weight of the gun are the only things that really change recoil.

A .22 target rifle loaded with match ammo is a slow, lightweight bullet, very heavy rifle. Recoil almost undetectable. A Jennings J-22 loaded with Stingers is a very fast bullet, and a very light gun- a bit snappy.

To quote Scotty from Star Trek- "Ye canna change the laws of physics, Cap'n!" Changing guns is about it.

If you're dead set on it you could hollow out the stock.

Make a stock out of balsa wood and use faucet tubing for a barrel. Or you could just plug up the barrel, but that might only work once.
