I use multiple snakes on my 10 22. It works fine. I do use a jag when I'm bored and willing to totally disassemble the gun. I doubt that cleaning a barrel from the muzzle is all that critical for the "average" shooter. However, I was taught to do barrel cleaning work from the chamber, so that's what I do... right, wrong, or otherwise. __________________ *** Don't Mess With TEXAS *** Μολὼν λάβε |

What are you saying, Mark? Are you a "special" shooter? __________________ If the pain is lacking so is the discipline...

Hardly...
What I'm saying is, if someone's shooting is so perfectly accurate that cleaning the barrel from the muzzle is actually seen on a target... that's way beyond my skill level! And I shoot pretty good. __________________ *** Don't Mess With TEXAS *** Μολὼν λάβε Last edited by Mark F; 02-12-2011 at 12:25 PM. |

Forget the jag. Get a bore snake. __________________ Scott

I use a boresnake for rimfire only, which I've been told is perfectly adequate. Anything else gets the full-on clean routine.
Ah, but this is a dredged-up, nearly one year-old thread anyway. Last edited by lonyaeger; 02-12-2011 at 12:55 PM. |

I use a product called a Patch Worm. It looks like a piece of weed eater string with a round end on it and it comes with different size buttons that you slide on it before your patch goes on. The different buttons are for different calibers. This thing is amazing and no metal ever touches the bore. I have one for rifles and pistols. |

Its kind of hard to do that with a 10/22 if you dont have a hole drilled in the back of the receiver or you take the barrel off. Both options suck in my opinion. __________________ I'm already surrounded by half-dead brainless people already, the zombie apocalypse would just give me a reason to be productive and get rid of them. |
