I agree with TXHillbilly! My preference hands down is the Marlin 39-A Rifle. If you have never seen or held one go look at one before you buy. They are top quality and talk about it lasting to be passed down! Mine is going to my first grandson when I head to the happy hunting ground! I also have heard great things about the Henry Rifles also made here in the USA.

Henry's stellar Customer Service makes all the difference in the world for when your gun breaks.

To each his own. I am sure the Marlin, Henry and Browning are good. I have always wanted the Winchester. If it was good enough for John Wayne and Roy Rogers then it's good enough for me. I can't believe how accurate it is. I can shoot the eyes out of a herd of flys at 50 yards with open sights!!

The Wichester 9422/9422M are great guns. They are just way over priced nowadays, and they were never the gun that the Marlin 39 is.

I've got an Erma Worke (Germany)copy of a Winchester 9422M,and I think it's a better rifle than an original Wichester 9422M.

Find a vintage Marlin 57. I had one in 1964 and loved it! Yep had, its the only gun that passed through my grubby paws!. (It was stolen.)

See if you can find one at those prices. ^

Get her dirty, then clean her so she starts to respect you. When her trust is complete, she will serve you well for a lifetime!

I've been looking for a .22 Levermatic. I have a model 62 in .30 carbine and have been shooting it for years,(my kids also) but want a .22 to go along with it.

A Henry is a great rifle, if you like plastic, potmetal and paint...! How good is a painted receiver?

As for me, the owner of five Marlin 39A's and two Winchester 9422's, I prefer the quality of the machined and blued steel pieces, that make up the Marlin's and the Winchester's.

I have a Marlin 39CL too...
