A choice
I was thinking about getting into a 22 project gun this year. Now the local Wally Mart has 2 rimfires available - a Mossberg 702 Plinkster for $120 and Ruger 10/22 for $220.
Keep in mind that this rifle will not remain stock, I plan on modifying/improving it to it's limits. So which one would you choose and why? Thanks

10/22 because there are upgrades for it that are easy to find. I've shot both and the 10/22 is the winner. The triggers suck on both of them.

I agree, the 10/22 is definitely worth the extra $.
Why? Parts are everywhere, parts are cheap, parts are easy to swap, it's the AR of rimfires, & it's extremely reliable.

Bout the only mod to a mossberg you can do reasonably priced is paint it.

Get the 10/22. It's like Lego's for grownups.

I have a Moss 702, It's not at all accurate. 3 inch group at 25 yards would be a good group for mine. It feels like a toy rifle or a cheap BB gun. Wasted money, would like to trade it for a bolt action in fair condition, or a decent pellet gun.
