Stingers aren't any longer over all but the case is longer....not sure why it would matter if the pressures are within spec and the OAL isn't too long. I think Velocitors use a standard case but I could be wrong.

My Marlin manual warns agains over use of hyper velocity 22LR which would be like a +p...
Maybe give Ruger a call and see what they have to say about it.

You know, I just read it again, and it says "Ruger 10/22 "Target" rifles. Mine is a carbine, not the target model. So I guess I'm good to go. Thanks to all and sorry to bother!

You're good to go with stingers in your "regular" stock 10/22. The reason they're a no no in target barrels is they have a tighter, shorter chamber. It's entirely possible that the longer case MAY get stuck in the throat or actual rifling in the tighter chambered rifles.

Having said that I prefer the Velociters as they have more oomph than Mini Mags but retain the good accuracy of the Mini Mags. The Stingers have never been that accurate for me. They'll only get about 3/4" to 1" 5 shot groups at 50 yards in my rifles. That's not acceptable to me.

I've had lots of friends recommend the Velocitors to me. I'll check them out, thanks Bear.

CCI makes them, 50 to a plastic box, at a velocity of 1,450 fps with a 40 gr bullet.

Only applies to the target version as it has a slightly shorter and tighter chamber.

I have 7 10-22's in various configurations mostly 20+ years old with cases and cases of CCI mini-mags fired thru them without a single issue....except finding more ammo right now !

Keeping them clean, lubricated and good springs in them is important.

When converting them to 17Mach2...you need to use the heavy bolt handle to slow the bolt down or you will blow out the extractor due to bolt velocity.

Default 22lr ammo

I have a Rem Nylon 66 that I bought & use since the 1970's & it eats up any & all 22 LR or shorts without a hiccup, great for any small game including, foxe's & coyote's in about 100 yd's or less, with stingers or even better Rem Yellow Jacket's

I'm with Bear.

Velocitors are all I use any more for more than simple plinking. My Anschutz Sporter will drop them into a ragged hole at 100 yards when I'm paying attention, and they kill like the Hand of God.

I have had poor accuracy with the Stingers, though they are devastating when they hit. They have limited effective range, and I don't like past about 50 yards.

Mini Mags were my favorite ammo as a kid (when I could afford them), but the Velocitors blow them away.
