BTW, does anybody know how a lead round nose will deform at that slow velocity? I wonder how effective it would be on squirrels...

I would think it would be a great head hunting round. Do you think you need the bullet to deform? I have used round nose bullets for small game back in the 70/2 with no problems.

My son-in-law that i gave most of my cci Quiet ammo too has 2 ratcoons down with it allready .One bullet was a head shot that passed that passed through. The other was a shoulder shot that stayed inside but dropped the coon where it was at . Shots were 20yards and 23 yards.
I used regular 40gr 22lr winnies when I was a youngster with no problems on small game. Never used a hp round from a 22 for hunting.

I wouldn't worry about squirrels, I killed tons of those with a Daisy Red Ryder BB gun and a Crossman 2100 Classic BB/pellet rifle.

I bought some of this ammo but only shot 2 rounds so far. First one was fine the second one had no powder and the bullet stuck in the barrel. So had to drive home to remove bullet. I'll try some again in a day or two.

Default CCI Quiet rounds

From what I understand, should not shoot the Aguilla out of a rifle, not sure of the reason why! Cliff

Highwalls post is why. There is not enough velocity from the cartridge to overcome the friction of travelling down the entire length of the barrel. Safety first!

Shot a bunch of this ammo today with no additional problems of no powder cartridges. I only brought one rifle with to try them(Winchester bolt action). They were not very accurate in this rifle (5" at 35 yards, pretty poor). But might shoot much better in a different gun. was quiet though.

I have a pump that loves the CB shorts and my bolt hates them. Every gun seems to be different. You buy, try and hope you have some luck.

Shooting in the county is legal when conditions are met- distance from dwellings and permission to shoot on property if not the owner. The issue is the hassle of dealing with the deputy sheriff for 20 minutes because of some "concerned citizen" makes a call to the 911 center to report gun shots heard. The deputy has to investigate after which he then reports your in compliance with the law. The quiet ammo is great because it doesn't draw attention.

Interesting that your 10/22 will cycle this stuff. I cannot get it to cycle in any autos that I have. It does not even try to open a Colt Match Target. This stuff compares to the Remington LR CB round with the conical HP bullet. Not as quiet as the CCI short CB or the old Winchester short CB. The CCI or Remington is my go to round for ground Squirrels around the house in my trusty Browning Belgian T2. Deadly, although I do not shoot over 50 yds.
