DefaultCan the Marlin 795 use the tapco stock?

HI, I have a marlin 795 and I really want a tactical .22 but I don't want to spend $400 on a S&W M&P 15-22 although it would be awesome. So will the Tapco stock work with the 795? I know it does for the 10/22 but could I file it down or something so I will fit the 795? Thanks

Technically, yes. It will take modding at the trigger guard & bedding the stock & a few other tricks, but it can be done.

The 1022 is 1/2" wider, so the Marlin action slips right in, you just have to figure out how to hide the gap.

Hey, if one can slip a 795 into an 1946 M1 stock...and at least one loon has done a CTD 1022-MG42 kit

Also, KEEP THOSE EMAILS GOING TO TAPCO!!!
Millions of Marlin 60/795 owners want those TAPCO-style stocks...we just gotta make 'em realize that there's a real Market for Marlin stocks...

Boyd's has been making a mint from their line...recently expanded to 6 different 60/795 stocks...but they're wood...Practical, but not Tactical

Ok thanks for the help, I think I am going to end up getting either the Mossberg tactical .22 or the S&W M&P 15-22. Do you have any input on those?

Go with the S&W, the Mossy 702 is made in Brazil, so if something goes wrong you'll have a Taurus-like wait for repairs...
which is to say, a darn long wait

There are interesting stocks for the Marlin 795...just gotta hunt for 'em...
Ramline Folder...

Muzzlelite Bullpup...

The obligatory AT Dragunov...

Find a used Model 70 stock. Or perhaps modify a model 60 stock to take detachable mags. Not too hard to do. Then, cut/sand of the pistol grip part of the stock and bolt on an AR15 pistol grip. Paint the wood black and you are good to go. Want more? Cut off the buttstock behind the pistol grip. Add what is called a "pig nose adapter" and then screw a collapsible Ar15 stock into it. Instant tactical 795.
