Default Bullpup .22

I have a JC Higgins model 29, .22 rifle with 17 round ammo tube. I want to convert it to a bullpup configuration. Any ideas?

Welcome to FTF, please stop by the introduction section, say hi and a little about you. As far your question? I'm not versed in that area.

Welcome to FTF. Take a bunch of measurements and see how closely it matches a Ruger 10/22. You may be able to pick up a 10/22 bullpup stock and make it fit.

Should not be that hard a job other than fitting the new stock. You do know that there is a Federal minimum overall length for rifles and shotguns.

does your rifle have an unusual looking two piece stock? If so, made by High Standard for Sears, and as is, has some collector's value. You would be better served to sell that, and go for a 10-22 that has bullpup style stocks available as aftermarket.

it may be easier to convert a marlin 60 stock as it already has the tube cut out http://www.mountsplus.com/AR-15_Accessories/AR-15_Scope_Rings/MZ-60.html

i agree with c3, get a 10/22 or marlin 60 (if you want a tube fed) and get the bulpup stock designed for it. you can find both used for $50-150. the older 60's (pre '88 as i recall) have an 18 round mag and if you get one made in '86 or '87, it will have the 18 round tube and last shot hold open.

That High Standard will outshoot the stuffings out of a 1022...there are far better choices than the 1022 out there...
