Default Bought A Savage B.MAG .17 WSM

After looking around a little I found one at one of my LGS so I went ahead and grabbed it up. I just got it today so no scope yet. Going to check some scopes out over the next couple of weeks. I really like my BSA Sweet 17 that I have in my Savage 93R17 BTVS and would really like it if BSA had one for the 17 WSM. Being able to change bullet weight and range on the fly is what I like on the Sweet 17. I do like how Savage has used the rotary style magazine like a 10/22 magazine.

Once I put some glass on it get a chance go get to the range I'll give a range report. With the bad weather we've been getting around here (northeastern Oklahoma) it might be a couple of weeks or so. I'm in a wheelchair most of the time so it's hard for me to get out sometimes.

Here's a few pics of the rifle and size comparisons of 17 HMR vs 17 WSM. Sorry for the not so great pics. Snapped some quick photos with my phone. Once I have a scope and bipod on it I'll take better pics with my DSLR.

A friend of mine bought one a couple months ago,and really likes it. I'll stick with my 22 WMR's,and 22LR's.

OP, how do you like the gun itself? Looks? Fit & Finish? Stock? I saw one of these beginning of June, and I did not like the stock at all. And the finish could be much better. I will wait until the round gets some use and opinions, and until they put out some guns with nicer stocks and finishes. But it's definitely an interesting round.

Feel optimistic about the ammo supply?

I've been mulling this for a while (a 17 Hornet actually)but still on the fence.

I'm sure there will be better models down the line for sure. Haven't been able to shoot it yet but I really look forward to it. A Savage accu trigger is tough to beat.

Hopefully it takes off and Savage makes a model like my 93R17 BTVS:

I have a Volquartsen 17 WSM on order right now. Can't wait to get it. I guess I'm fixing to start sticking up on ammo now.

That's a nice looking rifle. I have been thinking about getting one.
I hope the weather gets better for you to shoot it soon.

17 WSM ammo is pretty easy to find now. I was at Academy Sports this past weekend and they had a bunch of it.
