bought my first .22 today!

So today I decided that I wanted to have a gun to shoot with at the range that was not going to empty my wallet every time I got the itch to shoot. So after reading around, I decided to go pick this up...

Savage Mark II .22LR, sorry for the crappy cell phone pictures.

Just figured I would share my purchase with you fellow .22 owners!

Awesome!! Nothing like a nice 22 for some fun shooting all afternoon. I'm also a big fan of the bolt action. Can we expect a range report in the near future?

Thank you! I actually decided which rifle I wanted by using this forum, I read about what was out there and the pro's and con's of each and then decided on one that was in my price range. I really like the bolt action, it will force me to take my time on each shot

I did the same thing today ! Was looking for a Bolt action 22 LR, but the store I went to only had Savage in a bolt action and the bolts were stiff and choppy. Really tight and too many steps just to get it to open and close! I wound up leaving with a Ruger 10/22, soft case, 100ct box of Mini-Mags, spare magazine, and some touch-up blue for $270.00 ! I'll be going back to Delaware in the future for more. Next time I'll drive down to Dover. It seems the farther south you go in DE, the more inventory and better the deals you get. Today I was up in New Castle County. Anyways sorry for getting off track and Good Luck with your new Long Gun !!

thanks! I looked at the ruger's also, but they were just out of my price range

Buy some cheap ammo till you are use to the gun, then move up in qaulity. Congrats on your new rifle!

blackhawk51 10-18-2010 11:58 PM

yeah im probably going to buy a case of the cheap stuff from wal-mart this weekend and go have a day at the range

FreedomFighter69 10-19-2010 02:21 PM

True, with a bolt, you can use Cyclones and Thunderbolts and not have any problems besides a dirty bore. Im probably gonna wind up getting a bolt action anyway. It's a shame the one the store had was so stiff and choppy, it was really a good looking rifle. Dammit I want a Marlin 981-T !!
