With the gophers starting to show up more and more I've been thinking about picking up a magazine fed bolt gun. My girlfriend has got an XT-22R, which is great, but I'm looking for something different so we don't confuse rifles. It isn't a firm price, but I'm looking to stay around $200.00.

My only real requirement is that the gun is able to hold minute of gopher at fifty yards. Anything on top of that is just icing on the cake to me. There's also the obvious requirements such as reliability.
How bout a good old mosin nagant for 100-130$ 7.62x54 is a great round with knock down power an great for long distance!! Ammo Is very cheap an easy to find.. That would be my first choice for a gun under 200$. Sure 22lr are cheap but a 22 should be the first gun anyone should buy so u should already have one or a few. In wv an pa 500 rounds of 22lr rounds are nearly impossible to find an are way over priced!!

I've thought about the Mosin, but right now I'm just looking for something to stick with my girlfriend in the number of gophers taken out. Up here .22LR is still simple to find and has gone up maybe $2-5.00 for some brands. I've also got almost 5,000 stock piled and still buying them as I can. But sadly this new rifle is gonna have to wait anyways.

I'm being sent out to British Colombia for my Basic Military Qualification so won't be as to do much for the next two months.

How do all you CZ lovers like the CZ 522 (I think) in 7.62X39? Is it a rifle you could expect MOA or even sub MOA from? I know the AK round isn't very effective at longer ranges, but I'd only be shooting it at 1-200 yards anyway.

When I made this post I didn't have to great of an I come and was trying to pay my bills as well. As of now, I'm thinking of putting more into the gun funds since I've got a better monthly pay.

Won't lie, I thought I was crazy for even considering $400.xx on a .22LR or really any rim fire gun. I have seen some real nice ones in that range though, but I just look at them and think "I'd rather get a centre fire.....", might just be me though.

Problem is that center fire isnt good for some things like critters where rimfires excel.
