I have 2 Ruger 10-22 rifles. The only ammo they are 100% reliable with is mini mag so far. My wife has a M&P 15-22 and it eats stuff that will jam the 10-22's. I had a bulk box of Winchester that was constantly jamming in the Rugers and went through the Smith without a hiccup. So far I have run Blazers, Aguila solids and 38 grn hp, American Eagle solids and 38 grn hp, Mini Mags solid and hp with out a single malfunction. The CCI Velocitors jammed. It felt like it needs a stronger recoil spring to run them. I have not tried them in the Rugers yet. The most important factor is reliability and the Smith will handle more brands reliably than my Rugers. The Smiths are also easier to clean. The Ruger has to be removed from the stock to get to the bolt and trigger group. I was a Ruger fan until we got the Smith.
From waist level at 8 yards with the laser I easily held a 3" group rapid fire 20 rnds. I usually dont load 25 but I have with no problems. Very easy to mount accessories on the quad rail.

Considering that most any AR type accessory are good for the S&W AR15-22 (or several other AR type .22's I imagine), I'd say that trumps the 10/22 accessory market.

But at what cost? For what the 10/22 is, it is a heck of a platform for mods. In fact I can't think of anything you can buy for an AR that you can't buy for a 10/22.

My 10/22 was made in the late 60's and feeds every type of ammo I put in her, I've never jammed once. You just need to DCOA her, pull out the bolt, make sure the extractor is clean and the spring is lively, and that should be it. Contrary to popular belief, you don't need to oil and grease it down like a porn star in a bruce seven all lesbian wrestle fest, they like being clean.

IMHO one of the best defensive 22LR ammo on the market is the Stinger Hollowpoint.

I was a sophmore in high school. My friends 10/22, loaded with Stinger Hollowpoints, had a ftf and he pulled the action back to chamber another round and let it snap closed. It went off. He had it pointed at the center of the back of my calf at a distance of about 30 yards. (Luckilly it wasn't the back of my head)

The bullet went through the calf, injuring the main nerve chord that is between my Tibia and Fibula bones, then slammed into the rear of my Tibia (Shin Bone) blowing the bone in pieces, and the bullet fragmented into an area the size of a large lemon, which now resides in my calf, behind my shin bone. No exit wound.

The doctors pulled pieces of my jeans out from inside my leg, stuffed a drain in all the way to the bone for a couple four or five days, then pulled out the gauze drain (worst pain imaginable)

I wore a soft cast till the swelling went down, then had a full leg cast on for about three months.

I still have nerve damage to the sole of my foot. Sand barefoot feels like razor blades.

I said along time ago stingers were the best. As for jams I bought mine bout 3 or 4 years ago and I have not had any problems with it jamming but every time I go shoot I come home and clean it. Take care of it and it want jam on you
