I don't shoot nearly as much as I used to, but used to burn between 2500 - 3000 rounds of .22 LR a week. I've tried them all and agree with you 30-30 the Federal has always given me the best performance as well as reliability, and yes I bought most of my .22 ammo at Wal-Mart. I buy CCI Stingers, Winchester Power Point, etc. from a couple of local gun shops, but they just can't compete with the amount of ammo that Wal-Mart buys.

I need to go to the range; but, the weather wind - gusts this week has been bad. The wife and I did go this past Friday - she had some Fail-to-Fire and Fail-to-Eject with Federal 550 pack, might have been operator error in loading the 10 rounders in the Browning Buckmark Camper.

I usually shoot the Blazer CCI 525 bulk pack, that was $16.99 and now is $20.99 in price. I have not had an FTF in the S&W M&P 15-22 or the other .22LR's. What pushed me to Blazer CCI was Remington crap that caused the M&P 15-22 extractor to explode into 3 pieces, lucky all were on the shooting table and I was able to re-assemble.

Still cheap to shoot; but, when you go to the grocery store and see a pack of brats and a week later the price has gone up. How much you shoot, even with .22LR rounds comes into play!

I use the federal 500 boxes. They are accurate, consistent, and have very few misfires. I have used the remingtons.. i do not like them... first off their boxes are TERRIBLE and fall apart all the time. And they tend to not be very consistent. I can shoot one and it goes bang... then the next goes pop.. the next goes ping.... you get the point..
