Default Best ammo for a stock ruger 10/22

I'm looking to buy a ruger in the next few days, from all I've read it seems the most reliable plinking gun out there. Just wondering what peoples opinions were for the best ammo? Any help will be appreciated and put to good use! Thanks

The 1022 is a nice rifle. I got the takedown model less than a month ago. Mine has eaten anything I put through it. Federal, Blazer, Some game ammo etc.

I would not worry about it. I have about 1000 rounds through mine and had only two light strikes one of which never fired after trying it a couple of times.

good luck

The 10-22 will eat anything. BTW I think midway has the high capacity mags on sale right now.

I had a 10/22 that ate everything except remington, tried half a dozen different rem .22lr types and none worked worth a $h!t. But everyone i know who has a 10/22 doesn't have a problem with any brand.

W/out bothering to read the other posts most probably say something like "whatever works best/is most accurate in your gun" and lean towards the cheap 36 grain milk boxes of junk. Cheapskates will defend these to the death. OK Try them.

Then try more and more expensive stuff. By the time you're paying as much for a box as most people would pay for a brick and many yahoos want to pay for a case you'll find there is a difference and price is highly correlated to reliability and accuracy.

There are three components to your shooting: you, the gun and the ammo. Most guys are Rambo plinkers and the cheapest ammo is about the same level as their gun and shooting capabilities. Maybe you are above average. The gun can be made so with an inexpensive Volquartsen Hammer Kit. Challenge yourself to be as good as the improved gun and better ammo!

Good luck.
