With a wood stock and factory barrel:
-remove barrel band
-cut front of stock off (where the barrel band was) and sand smooth to taste
-place metal washer into stock over take down screw hole (clear fingernail polish works well to hold it in place)...this raises the barrel position in the stock slightly and gives a metal pedestal that the action will be tightened down onto
-lightly sand the barrel channel using a dowel and sandpaper until a dollar bill slides easily under the barrel back to the receiver with a little clearance
-if the action rocks (fore to aft) in the stock when you are done some friction tape under the rear of the receiver where it makes stock contact can work to stabilize it
-you'll need a wood saw
-fingernail polish (or glue or whatever)
-maybe friction tape (or a piece of leather or whatever)
-about an hour of your time
Small investment yields smaller groups!
