You can never have enough 22 rifles, handguns, or ammo.

I just think if things get as bad as they say then a good battery of 22lr firearms would be easy to keep shooting since you could stock pile a large amount of ammo for them. A good 22lr handgun would allow you to get a "battlefield pick up" so you could use your 22lr to "make" more guns.
I just think if we're in for what I think we may be in for that I'd rather have 3 or 4 guns, even in 22lr then just a single handgun in a centerfire caliber.

i agree the .22 mag is the poachers dream a well placed shot can take a deer down in a single shot same as a human i buy bulk ammo 500 rounds at once for around 8 dollars for 50 shells from cabelas easy to store and easy to take with you i also have a good supply of buckshot and bird shot in 12 guage and a .223 rifel for long distanc shots and for deer hunting lots lots of ammo is a must

22 lr only is not a sensable plan. Iraq proved that even 223 is deficent for a firefight. Combat is not fun and games, and is not the same as shooting off a bench at the range.

45 acp for my handgun, maximum takedown when the enemy is close. 223 for my battle rifle, with the best expanding hunting bullets avalible. 12 gauge for defense, alternating slugs and #4 buckshot. 22lr for small game....

If all I had was a 22 I would train with it a lot. I would use the largest magazine capacity possible. If that is all I had, I would use it for self defense. If I had enough money to have a collection of firearms, one of them would be at least a 9mm handgun.

I have a couple 22s, and will most likely get more. I love shooting them, and can afford to shoot them a lot . That being said, there's no way I would use one for self defense. Rim fire rounds just aren't reliable enough to bet my life on. I'll stick with my 45 and my 12 gauge to defend home and family .

I use my 22's for everything. Some frown in CC with one, but it's good by me. A 22 to the chest would drop me in a hurry. Cheap at the range for a day, a lot easier to get my wife to come to the range with me, and will jack a squirrel or rabbit up at 100 yards. I love the 22.

Inexpensive to buy quality firearms in .22, inexpensive to shoot, train and become familiar with them. Not everyone can afford the price of larger caliber firearms. Besides, getting punched in the face by 10 CCI stingers is going to hurt a bad guy. And if your going to go up against an army, good luck with whatever your carrying.
