Default Anybody else get better results with faster .22LR than slower?

The theory is subsonic .22 are more accurate than standard velocity because it doesn't have to transition to below mach.

Well, my experience so far has been that CCI 1435 fps Velocitor can give me 1' to 2" groups at 100 yards, The CCI 1255 fps Mini Mags give 3" to 5" groups and Eley 1085 fps Target Rifle is all over the page. Same rifle, same 5 shots, same BR, same range, same variable winds with gusts to 5 - 6 mph, and same me.

Anybody else get better results with faster .22LR than the slower at 100 yards?

They aren't going transonic at 100 yards.
That is why most 22s start to loose accuracy at around 150 to 200 yards; that is when the velocity hits the transonic region.

The ammo still needs to be compatible with your bore. Harmonics and velocity irregularities are not the same across all rifles or pistols with specific ammo.

Try finding a subsonic ammo that shoots as well at 100 yards as another supersonic cartridge, then test at 200 yards.

Let's just say those two cartridges shoot the same groups at 50 yards; but the 1255fps ammo is going transonic at 50 yards which starts the transonic effect. At 100 yards the groups would be larger than the other cartridges which haven't hit transonic yet.

You need to know when the bullets of each cartridge goes transonic; then test each one before that point, then test further out.

My 22 cal rifles and auto pistols function more reliably with the HV ammo.....My revolvers will shoot anything including the junk Remington Gold Bullets.

As has been stated many times, each 22 is an individual and you should try many types and brands of 22 ammo to see what your particular 22 likes best. It might be HV or standard velocity or even low velocity (like CB's or Quiet ammo).

Guess you have heard enought about finding what your rifle likes. But also fire 10 to 20 rounds depending on the bullets lube to re season the barrel to it before attemping to see how it likes a change in ammo. I have 4- .22 rifles that will shot several stardard velocity brands under an inch. 2 of those closer to 5/8". You will also find that a label that is great at 100 yards may not be the best at 50 or 150 yards. .22lr can be a pain in the rear at times.
