I have a Marlin 60 with tube mag and love it. It never fails to fire and it is accurate. I would recommend installing Tech-Sight aperture sights if you go this route.

I would avoid Rem 597s. I bought one and it threw the ejector plunger on the third shot, the front sight was around 5 deg off center so it could not be zeroed and the receiver dovetails were also off center so I could not use after market sights.

Let me help ya here...this is EVERYTHING you need to know about Marlin ejection...all ya need is a Nickel to use as a gauge!!

I've picked up quite a few Marlins, all they ever need is a good cleaning, adjust the Ejector Wire, and/or new recoil spring after 20+ years

I just got my new Ruger 10/22 Takedown model.
I really like it.
Everything fits so nicely into the back pack, plus room for a hand gun & maybe some MRE's.

Default .22 rifle

You have made an excellent choice.I have at my disposal Winchester bolts, Ruger bolts and 10-22's,Remington bolts. Marlin Nolts an The Model 60.My go to gun is the Marlin 60, it is accurate and has the 22 inch barrel and cycles the subsonics. Besides making an excellent choice, You will not disappointed. Cliff
