Try some different ammo. I've never seen a gun that didn't shoot any number of other brands better than the Remington Golden bullets. I find CCI typically the best of the High Velocity options. Winchester is also pretty good as I recall. The point is, experiment & find what your gun "Likes" and you may be surprised. An 1" to 1.5" at 50 yards would be really good for a stock 10/22, at least IMHO. The usual caveats apply, ammo it likes with little to no wind, low caffeine level in the shooter, etc.

Default 10-22

Try standard Velocity .22's , they are slower than the speed of sound. I shoot Remington Sub Sonics 1050 Ft. per sec & CCI SV 1070. Ft. per sec. & they are fairly quiet. Group looks good so far! Cliff

Default Getting Better...

Here is a close-up of a 10 round grouping of Blazers. Please ignore all shots outside of the red in this example - I tend not to want to waste any room on a spatter target.

And this is a comparison of Remington Golden Bullets vs. Blazers. Can you tell which is which?

Both examples were from about 110 feet shot at a table using an improvised rest.

Depends on the wind and the ammo. Try several different types of ammo and see what yours likes best. Mine is rather fond of Federal Gold Match ammo.

My son does well with it at 50 yards. even when he was eight years old.

I wouldn't worry about printing great groups. Appleseed would be great for you. It's a history lesson that turns into a shooting class.

That's priceless! So far I have only gotten one of my daughters to shoot my pellet gun. Neither have been interested in shooting the 10/22...

Take the time and a few bucks to buy some cci stingers and go back out and I am betting that group will tighten way up.

Soon as I save up 250 or so my new 10/22 is going to clark custom guns for the 10/22 accuracy package which includes : Match crown , Match <shortened > chamber , trigger job and tuned extractor . Assuming it is available for a 10/22 takedown .
