I rolled into Sportsman's Warehouse around 1300 hours. Only ammo was 44 Mag and 10mm. The rifle ammo was 7.62 x 54 Wolf $12.99 a 20 round box. They had a nice stack!

They had a 50 gallon drum of 7.62 x 51 (Tracer ammo), full for $6,500.

The shotgun ammo is very low, grab a box of 12 gauge and a box slugs!

They had only 12 pistols on the wall, all .22 Caliber. They did have some magazine selection, purchase a 5 round Bushmaster 5.56 mag. and left the other on the peg.

Not much of a .22LR rifle selection, they did have standard rifles and 1 Colt AR for $1099.99

Saw bricks at a FL gun show a couple weeks ago for $170, boxes of 50 were $17. Only 2 vendors had any and both had the same prices. I've only got about 1500 or so rounds and a year ago my dad said why keep so many around at a time? Now he understands, lol.

Last 2 days I went to 2 Walmarts in the morning and there were no new shipments of 22lr
I bet they will have in the next few days as it has been usually twice a week they get the 225 round boxes in and the 50 count small boxes.

This week. I called nine stores every morning. three walmarts, one dick's, and five LGS. EVERY DAY! I was able to purchase two 100 rd. value packs of .40 (.40 and.22 were all I asked about) from this endeavor (at Walmart). I did, however, learn the shipping and stocking schedule of two of the wally worlds which COULD improve my chances of eventually getting some .22. For the record, I am not over-buying. I just NEED .22 ammo (have 25 rounds) and the .40 I shoot almost every weekend so the purchases are to replenish. What this has also shown me is that with each news story that breaks about government ammo purchase (or PO's/contracts) such as the DHS story this week which was a contract and not out right purchase..the stock at these stores depletes further. For example the DHS article this week mentioned target load 12 gauge ammo. At all of these places (as of 850am EST) is down to a minimum. I will say that, in my area, Walmart is the ONLY place not raising prices on there firearms or ammunition and ammo private sale prices are through the roof.

Walmart today 2 stores got in good shipments and were sold out of 22lr and 223 in an hour
380 seems stocks are getting back to normal (one store had maybe 40 boxes which would be more than normal stock on display. Both had 308
Am going to try in the morning to get 22lr. They have just not been consistent when they unpack and I cannot wait for them.
Lots of shot gun shells every day and has been. Mostly bird shot loads.

My LGS had everything today. 22,9,223,308. They have a grand opening for their new rifle range. I haven't seen 22 since December.

The majority of ammo bought by the government is filled by companies and factories that strictly make ammo for the government. The ammo shortages are based on the the huge uprising of gun owners and those new owners shooting as well as stockpiling like the rest of us have done for years. Also them being new gun owners they do not remember the $5.99 .22 brick prices. The current prices are all they know.

Those were the good days! Six bucks for a brick.

Their reality is our new reality

I'm going to try to get an official statement out of these manufactures.
  • Civilian Demand
  • Government Demand
  • Foreign Demand
  • Supply issues
  • Price Gouging/Price Fixing (artificially holding back / sitting on stock)

Maybe other issues?
  • Government red tape
