Default .22LR AR-15s

What's a good brand to look for? Can you mod them as easy as 5.56-.223 AR's? What are some sites for parts and such? Just looking for some good info on them before I get one. Thanks!

I am not one to 'dress up' my rifles, but I do know there are a jillion different kits, stocks, etc out there that were made for Ruger 10/22's

here is just one place: http://www.cabelas.com/catalog/browse/shooting-firearm-components-10-22-accessories/_/N-1102328

Watch out, there is junk out there. I think it is mossberg that makes a .22 ar and its worthless. Plastic charging handle, plastic rails, nonchangable pistol grip, and I'm surprised that the bolt is cheap aluminum and not plastic. So my recommendation is not to buy online or order one, try to find a store that has it in stock so you can get a feel of it.

The S&W M&P 15-22 is an excellent choice. Controls and break down is the same as the AR. My wife loves hers.

How about quality tho? Charging handle metal? Does it have. Forward assist? What's the main differences between that and a real ar?

I don't think any .22 ar will have a functioning forward assist because the bolt is usually different.

It's a great gun. Have one and love it. But no, it does not have a forward assist. The bolt is entirely different.

The charging handle is similar to what you'll find on any entry level AR.
