I went to range yesterday before I went to the tailgate and I brought my Marlin60 and friends. I shot really good groups with the Marlin using the Remmington Golden Bullet (36gr) at 100 yds, but I recently bought some of this Aguila "Sniper SubSonic" 60gr and I struggled getting consistency at 100yds.

Has anyone else shot this ammo and had better luck?

You used Regular Velosity rounds and didnt have any feed issues? I may be mistaken but I belive the Marlin 60 is supposed to be used exclusivly with HV rounds. This may explain some of your trouble with grouping.

About the feed issues... NONE. I wasnt shooting rapidly but I only put 20 rounds of the 60gr stuff through the gun before I was too embarressed to continue.

lol. The owners manual says, and I quote

WARNING: Your rifle is a self-loading
.22 caliber designed for .22 Long Rifle
High Velocity cartridges only (not Hyper-
Velocity). Shorts, Longs, and Shot cartridges
can be loaded and fired, but
Marlin does not recommend them, as
feeding will not be reliable and damage
or injury may result from their use.

Does not say anything about accuracy issues, but who knows?

From many reviews Iv seen they say this particular round likes a fairly agressive rifling. 9" I belive I saw on one site. You might try calling the Manufacture and seeing what they say about it.

The accuracy you are not seeing is because the heavy 60gr bullet is not super sonic and it is falling off in velocity very fast as it is subsonic and it is a 60gr bullet. First your 22lr has a 1:16" twist this is too slow for 100 yard accuracy with this round. They are meant for 50 yards or less.

Shilen makes the most different twists in the 22rf.

- 16" Standard twist for rifle barrels
- 16"* Ratchet rifled 4 groove

Surprised some of those 60 gr bullets wer not going thru the target SIDEWAYS. Very few 22s have a rate-of-twist that will stabilize a 60 gr bullet- most are for 40 gr- and you are feeding it a bullet 50% heavier than was it was designed for. Expect bad accuracy.

Yea, I just just scaned the targets into my comp and I noticed that the holes were slightly oblong and I could actually see where the bullet slapped the target and left an immpression of the rifling.
Kind of cool.
