My Browning does not like the FMJ, and we can't use them anyway to hunt here in NH. Always headshots, but sometimes that is not an option for weasels, skunks...
I do use my .22WMR for coyotes here in the southern part of the state. Rimfire only. Headshots are a must. The .17HMR is not an option since it does not penetrate the skull well even w/ 20gr gamepoints.
.22 mag has a little hole going in and a nickel size hole leaving the head. __________________ Freedom is not free. The best of us always leave too soon. |

But i'm kinda leaning toward the .17 hmr after reading this article, Compared: .17 HMR and .22 WMR (Magnum). I just wanted to see what your guys's opinions are on these and what recommendations you may have, and maybe a specific brand or model, I would like to maybe use the 17 grn v-max in the article but still haven't looked at bullets yet.

My opinion? You want a rimfire stick to 22LR. Far as im concerned and this is just my opinion, 22Mag & the 17HMR are what I refer to as hermorphadite rounds and will be hard to find when and if the time comes. Stick w/ .22LR, you won't regret it in the end.
I happen to be partial to the Glenfield Marlin 60 because thats a model I'm familier with. __________________ "BE NOT AFRAID" |

Already have 3 .22 LR and i'm trying to get rid of two, so no. I'm looking for something with more range to it. __________________ aim small, miss small |

No offense taken. My point to your point was that I will enjoy shooting the
.17 until the end of days and, when SHTF, I will switch to other weapons. |

Strangely, when everyone was having trouble finding .22lr last year, I could find all the .22WMR I will ever need.
Everyone should have a gun safe (or two!) for guns, and one for ammo __________________ Calico Specialist
