I have a co-worker who has a side job working shooting and training classes for LEOs and is a partner with a tactical supply store. They met a few weeks ago with a major ammo mfg company about selling their ammo. He says that the rep told them that they were gearing up to retool and flood the market one caliber at a time to get the ammo levels back up for their brand and get prices down where they should be. Again, this is info direct from a friend who was in a meeting with the ammo rep for one company. It could be smoke and mirrors by the rep, who knows....but I trust that my guy was told this info.

I ordered a box of 525 rounds today online. Says expect shipment in 2 to 8 weeks. We will see how long it takes. If their estimate is accurate I will order more from them.

At least they are allowing back orders now, that was not the case a few weeks ago. Seems like they are expecting more regular shipments.

Whats driving me nuts is I get "Item in stock" emails from Midway, I click the link immediately and they are out of stock.

I just hope the madness ends soon. I have not shot anything but shotgun in about 3 months because while I have enough ammo for now I dont want to shoot it until I know I can replace it fairly easily.

all this ammo shortage stuff has made me a better shooter - I have learned to slow down and really take my time.

Conversation with an officer that he got a brick of Remington ammo at Sportsman's Warehouse. Asked if any other .22LR makes and said no!

My wife finally walked into the ammo aisle, she thought I was talking BS. The aisle for all caliber types is near bare.

I don't know how it is where you are, but we are seeing a surplus of AR type rifles around here. There's no ammo for them to be had, so people aren't buying them

I am seeing a good selection of AR's at LGS, the big national chains have some.

Sportsman's has 7.62x54 on the shelf for a month plus.

7.62x39, .308, 30-06 .223, 5.56, 9mm, .38, .357 or .22LR is rare.

I went into my LGS the other day and tried to buy some .38 Special range ammo. They had four boxes and would sell me one. I told them thanks, but no thanks. I can't see going to the range with one box of ammo.

I have plenty of defense ammo for my .357's, but with things the way they are I'm not going to use that at the range. Normally, that's what I practice with, but I won't waste what I may not be able to replace for some time.

I just got my first rifle, the M&P 15-22 and have been looking for some ammo just so I can even test the rifle out. Couldn't find any 22lr anywhere. Walmart ammo shelf inside the glass case was bare with only two small boxes of remington .380. Went to Bass Pro last night and it was bare except for 3 20rd packs of 22lr shot shells.

It's slowly coming back, the frenzy buyers sucked most of it up. I found this in Portland last week, not as cheap as in the past but, Dick's Sporting Goods there had quite a few boxes of it for sale.
