Default 22 ammo flying off the shelves

Why is everyone loading up on 22 ammo. I go to dunhamssports or Walmart to buy ammo and the pass two weeks the shelves have been cleared but they got all kinds of other ammo wtf. Both just got shipment in on Thursday and there out Saturday?

Getting close to Christmas. Maybe a bunch of kids are getting .22s from Santa. Maybe you have s lot of doomsday preppers in your neighborhood who didn't here about the other Mayan calendar that goes on for several thousand more years.

Yeah I went to Walmart and almost all of the ammo was gone I was gonna buy another 550 round box of .22lr and some 20 gauge buckshot. Though they had all the big calibers still saw another gun I want there as well a .30-06

Yep,
There are several reasons.

1. Christmas
2. Target Shooting
3. Good barter and trade value if the SHTF
4. Also use for obtaining food anytime
5. Quieter Round regarding detection *Especially with Suppressors
6. Value and ease of storage in quantity

A buddy of mine outside San Diego told me yesterday that he went to Walmart and couldn't find any of the cheaper fmj 9mm and 45acp ammo. There was plenty of the hi-velocity hollow points though. He even went to a gun shop that was also out and no one has any explanation for it. I'm always looking for .22 shorts for my Winchester pump and can never seem to locate any.
