i like that even better than my savage 93r17! i really like the laminated stock. they didn't offer the 93r17 with a laminated stock when i bought mine, they do now. i'm thinking about buying the boyd's laminated stock and putting it on mine. nice looking rifle.

All ready for zeroing. Marlin 917VS, it's not left handed, but its a monte carlo stock so the only pain for me being a south paw is the bolt location. no biggie though.
Topped it off with a 4-16x40 varmint scope, 1/8MOA adjustments. Not telling you the brand because you'll laugh...but It had decent reviews and was priced right.

Sweet looking Marlin ya got there!!
Ain't nothing wrong with a Center Point scope...as long as you don't forget to unlock the adjusters before click-adjusting...
Lot of doofuses have shredded their threads by forgetting to unlock 'em...then they wonder
why the scope no longer holds zero after they break it...Duh...

Not too bad at 100 yards on a somewhat breezy day. First time i've ever sighted in optics.

Ive had a the cheap savage 17 hmr from walmart and iv got a marlin 882 22 mag. The mag out shoots the 17 out beyond 100 yrds. But thats heavier bullets and alot of after market mods to the marlin 22 wmr. Both were being shot with a tasco golden antler 3-9x40mm. My marlin will do anything the 17 will and its cheaper with alot of different brands, bullet types/weights for alot(usually that is) cheaper than the 17's ammo

I didn't wanna burst his .17 bubble...
My experiences are the same...my Marlin 25MN usually outperforms both types of .17 at the range...
and has the ability to use bullet sizes from 30-grain to 50-grain...those 50-grain Federal GameShok's hit with such a SMACK!!
Its like dropping a brick off a tall building & hitting a coyote in the head with it...PLOP!

The cheap 45 gr winchester dynapoints give off some pretty amazing dang results also. Especially when they look like they are a wad of copper foil with a divet in the end of them

I dont think anyone will laugh unless your putting an aimpoint on a raven .25

i like the 17hmr round myself, and have found it to be very accurate on a windless day. i agree that the 17hmr and even the 17hm both are very lightweight bullets and if there is any breeze blowing, forget about hitting any bullseyes! size for size and ballistics, the 22wmr is a lot better for small game. with that being said, i bought mine for shooting holes in paper at longer ranges than a 22. had i been looking to buy a rimfire for hunting, i would have bought a 22wmr bolt action. in the future, i might still add one to my collection.
