Default 17HMR barrels help?

I just got an older Savage 93R17 .17 HMR .. can i change out the barrel for a Heavy barrel..and maybe a diferent stock(has synthetic) .. or can
i know they make the new ones w/ a heavy barrel . but i cant find any info on the older models like this one..

It would be possible to order a barrel blank and fit it to your rifle pretty easy BUT it would be a gunsmith deal-I doubt the factory would want to sell just a barrel instead of a whole other rifle.

To rebarrel a 17HMR may end up costing you more then buying a new rig off the shelf.

well i decided to not change barrels ... i kinda like it thte way it is... after shooting my dads hm2 w/ a heavy barrel I like how light mine is now.... and hey i dont need a speacial barrel to make me shoot good
