.17hmr

Hey guys, looking to get a .17hmr soon. Any stand-outs? I'd rather a bolt, but semi is fine. Also im a left-hand shooter. Ive been stuck on a nice Savage bolt, but would like to see more. Money isnt a concern. Any suggestions would be great. thanks

The Savage with a target barrel fitted with a "Sweet 17" scope is a tough combination to beat in the .17. My one son doesn't hunt but likes to shoot, got him one about 6 years ago, great little gun.

Im also a lefty. Picked up a savage 93r with the bull barrel. Took about 150rds to break in the barrel but it shoots one hell of a tight group at 100yds. The pic below is 3 shots. The other flyers were from the target above i was walking in my shots.

Semi .17HMRs are going to be rarer than an honest politician-

The Savage 93, bull barrel- closest thing to a death ray i have ever owned. Wind moves those little bullets a lot, but if you can read wind, they are GREAT!

If you want to try a Marlin right hand, send me a PM. You'd have to drive to NH.

I have owned the Marlins and the Savages. I find the marlins a little more accurate. Put a descent scope on it and not a Sweet 17 either as they are junk. Your eye has to be just right or the sight pic sucks. Plus when you throw the rifle on your shoulder the adjustable knobs will move on ya and change zero. As a range gun they could be OK but as a hunting scope forget it.

My newest one.

Nickey,

I have several rifles of all makes models and calibers. But I must be honest the Marlin 917V (Varmint Model) I have is one of the rifles I like to shoot the most. It is very accurate as Duddie10's picture above. That is not at all unusuall for the 17 HMR round in a good rifle.
Not to mention the cost of the ammunition is reasonable. I would highly recommend the 17 HMR for target, and light varmint shooting.
