every gun is different in what ammo it likes. of all the 17hmr ammo i have bought, and i have bought every type available, my savage m93r17 likes the hornady brand the best. if your looking for the est for yours, buy several types and brands and start shooting. you will something yours likes better than others. google bulk ammo sales, and you will find dealers in bulk ammo sales. several brands sell their 17hmr in bulk, but i don't think hornady does. check and see, i could be wrong.

According to Chuck Hawks-

"CCI actually loads all of the .17 HMR ammunition for the CCI, Federal, Hornady, and Remington brands. However, the ammunition is loaded with different bullets to different specifications."

The bulk is likely PMC. My Savage 93 likes CCI and Hornady. YMMV.

seems like someone told me that or i read it before, but wasn't sure if it was true or not. my savage likes the Hornady 20gr XTP best, then the Remington 17gr Accutip-V next. both of these perform very well in mine.

I was looking at those 20 grain rounds. some say it kind of removes the flatness of the shooting 17 hmr?

A 50 yd zero generally means 1.5 low at 100. Versus 4.5 to 5 inches low for a .22 LR. The 20 grain or 17 grain is still mighty flat shooting.

My Marlin 917V started out shooting 17gr aweful. After a few 100 20gr game points I tried them again. They shot great! Mine likes Hornady 17gr least of all. Never tried Remington as it has always been the worst in other calibers. CCI is hands down the most accurate and consistant in 17 and 20gr.

Havent noticed a big difference between brands or styles, but I've shot the most and the best with any of the 17g stuff with a ballistic tip.

I believe this was the hornady stuff, at 100 yards, on a slightly breezy day.

Shot from a bench, 5 shots in about 25 seconds, so definitely not trying my hardest to keep a tight group. My last 5 shots of the day.

Thats funny because my marlin xt-17 shoots hornadys flawlessly and cci horribly, i dont know how that is sense they all are made in the same factory, so i think im going to get some hornady 17 grain v-max for my bulk, and a couple boxes of the 20 grain stuff for bigger game, like coyots and fox, and i dont need any people getting angry, as i have my dad backing up my shot with a 30-30 marlin, and being 13 i cant really afford (or allowed to) get any larger like a .223 for coyote.

Each rifle is different. I have a Browning A-bolt .22 WMR that shoots CCI great also, Some HP's other then CCI are good, but solids look like a shotgun pattern. I can't say much for 30gr varmint types. CCI Maxi Mag HP's are very accurate.
Each rifle and caliber combo has a prefrence. No real rhyme or reason.
