Recently purchased a 10/22 target model. I've done a little searching on here and have found where others have upgraded their 10/22 triggers, but never on a target model. Is my stock trigger good enough to not need upgraded? Or would an upgrade be worth it? Thanks for any advice.

It now has a Nikon monarch 3-12x42 scope, the rifle itself is the same as out of the box.

I never shot a target model 10/22 but I'd hope it has a better trigger pull than the usual 8 to 9 pound ones on the regular guns. If it feels heavy to you, I'd buy a target hammer such as this one that I put in mine. It's not hard to do and the results are amazing.

If you feel your trigger is not in the range of 2 1/2 to 3lbs and more like a stock 6lb trigger then it maybe worth upgradeing. There are at sites like mildway usa where you can look at different options and some cheap options well give you a 2 1/2lb pull but with out a quality feel. &5 or less will replace all trigger parts . Check out Clark Customs for there trigger kits, the delux offers everthing that can be replaced and works well. Beyound that Jard or Kidd will get your at or under 1lb but cost is above 200 dollars to well above. My wife has a Clark customs kit in hers and it makes for a very good hunter but can still shoot tight groups. mine is a Jard 1lb trigger and not much good for any where but the range. But a great fully adjustable trigger.

I really like that stock you have, is that original to the gun or did you finish it yourself?

Well I'm not sure how official/accurate it is, but I just used an old hand held fish weigher to check my trigger pull. I checked it 5-10 times and every time it was between 2.5 to 4 pounds, mostly right at 3lbs though. Im definitely not looking to drop $200 into just a trigger right now, maybe around $50ish. And I also don't want a poor quality one. I may end up waiting awhile until I can put more into a trigger and get a good one.

Here is a little closer picture as it sits right now. The stock does look nice, but I didn't do it. This is the stock it came with out of the box.

If your trigger pull is 2.5 to 4lb now not much you can do with for even 50 bucks except maybe replace the just the trigger with one that has over travel control if your does not have it now. Maybe smoothing and polishing of trigger parts. thats about it. The difference between 2 1/2 lb and anything lighter cost to darn much.
