Default 10/22 Sight recomendations

Okay, I’ve been shooting with the 10/22 Takedown and I find the stock front blade simultaneously too small to see, AND it covers my view of the target. I haven’t figured out how it does that but it does.

The 10/22 is for quick off-hand target acquisition rather than for one hole bench rest groups. Indoors we have a 50’ range, which I’ll be using though the winter, and outside there’s a 100y range (70y zero?) so that’s the zero range the sight would have to accommodate. The 10/22 seems to ’pull’ to the right just a touch, so some windage would be good.

I’m looking for a circle within a circle sight type of picture. I did put a ‘ghost ring’ blade replacement on the barrel’s rear sight and I like it, but I think I’d like the longer sight radius of receiver mounted rear sight.

If MoJo made a ‘SnapShot’ for the 10/22 I’d get that, but they don’t. So I’m thinking a front globe and rear peep. I also found the stock 10/22 sights a bit low and would like something higher. The target ‘Fool Proof’ rear sights seem like overkill. I was thinking the ‘Ace i/t Hole’ or the WGRS-RU22, but I’m afraid they’re just as low as the stock, it’s hard to tell from the photos, and I don’t know which size ‘riser’ for the globe would work best with which rear peep.

Tech Sights were considered despite being a bit clunky looking, but I couldn’t find a front post with a hole in it. Do they exist? I discovered some people take the fiber optic out of a FireSight to get the hole.

Williams doesn’t do email and MidwayUSA said, “Too many options, go see a gunsmith.”

Your thoughts?

Unless you have changed to a stock designed for a scope the height of the cheek weld for open sights should not be much of an issue. Its all about the one you like the most. teck sights is a kit and so is the williams set for brownel. I like the fact of haveing the option of the merit disc if wanted.

Tech- sights reciever and front upgrade. Watch a few guys ring a 6" gong at 225 yards with them.
But williams has a better reciver sight and options on front sight. -

This is from brownels. http://www.brownells.com/rifle-parts/sights/sight-sets/ruger-front-rear-sight-set-prod26051.aspx

I would just like to change the front sight on my takedown . I love the rear sight and how it can fold for a scope if need be and even co-witness if you can believe that since I got the notched picatinny rai there is a tiny view hole with just enough sight picture to see the rear sight and the front sight .... but I hate the gold bead. So my question is there any fiber optic or something that has the stock height and could be used in conjunction with the stock rear sight ? Cause as it sits I can use iron sights WITH the scope on and I really dig that .

Actually I do get a good cheek weld when using the stock sight, but I'd prefer to do that AND have the butt a bit closer down into my shoulder pocket.

scroll down further and you will see this: Note: Installation of dovetailed front sights in ramps and especially dovetailed barrels almost always requires some minor fitting. Gunsmith installation is recommended.

I use the 6 0'clock hold on anything I shoot with open sights. The front sight blade should not be blocking the view of your target. I also put the Tech Sights on my 10/22. I love them. Now it is like shooting my Mini 14, as for as sight picture.
