My son has started taking an interest in shooting so we pulled out the .22 and found out that at the ripe old age of 16 he has out grown the gun what I am asking is there a longer stock and or how should we measure for him he is 6'3" and well on his way to over 6'5" like I said he is 16 and before we get in to other guns wanted him to.learn on the. 22 thanks for any input

there are so many stocks options for a ruger 10/22. it almost mind blowing. you can find thumbhole, laminate woood, synthetic. try searching in google or bing and you will see a bunch of places to buy them pop up... they can very from needing small sanding to make fit to being almost 100 percent drop ins
I have been a silent witness
to all of America's finest hours.
But my finest hour comes
when I am torn into strips and used as bandages
for my wounded comrades on the battlefield,
When I fly at half-mast to honor my soldiers,
Or when I lie in the trembling arms
of a grieving mother
at the graveside of her fallen son.

I like a place called Stocky Stocks to get my custom stocks. I've obtained several from them including one for my 10/22. The length of pull (LOP) is 13.5" on the Trailblazer I got. It really enhances the apearance if you ask me. They're on Sale for $118 right now. Stocky's are first class people to deal with too! The stock I got had a perfect drop-in fit with no fitting required.

Here's a link to the one I got:

Trailblazer Ruger 1022 Remington 597 Stocks - Right & Left Hand / Standard & Magnum / Bull & Standard Barrels

...There's also a Thumbhole style: $136

Revolution Tundra Rimfire Thumbhole Stocks - Remington 597, Ruger 10/22, Marlin 917 - Right & Left Hand / Standard & Magnum / Bull & Standard Barrels

..or a standard profile: $110.50

Explorer Ruger 1022 10/22 Lightweight Classic Stock - .920" Bull or Factory Barrels

Here's a picture of my Trailblazer stock on my 10/22:
